Ankole Long-Horn Cattle Sourcing
The Ankole is one of Africa’s most iconic cattle breeds, native to the grasslands of western Uganda and prized across the region for centuries. Recognisable by its dramatic, wide-sweeping horns, the breed was traditionally kept by the Bahima and Banyankole pastoralist communities as a measure of wealth, heritage, and social standing, with herds passed down through generations and central to local customs, dowries, and ceremonies.
Today the Ankole remains highly sought after for breeding stock, cultural exhibition, and premium beef, valued for its hardiness, disease resistance, and ability to thrive on natural pasture with minimal input.
